Pickin’ On Cystic Fibrosis is hosting its fourth benefit September 16-18, 2010
Bluegrass music will echo at KC Campground, 14048 Sherman Road, Milan, Michigan, 48160, on September
16-18, 2010. Musicians will provide entertainment Thursday evening and all day on Friday and Saturday.
Proceeds from ticket sales will benefitCystic Fibrosis Research through Hunt for a Cure. Admission is $10
Thursday evening, $15 daily Friday and Saturday, or $30 for an event pass. Children under 16 are free with a
paying adult.
Pickin’ on CF Director, Jimmy Kittle said, “In the past 20 years there has been much progress in the treatment
of CF, but there still is no cure. The predicted median age of survival for a person with CF is more than 37
years, thatis a great improvement – but not good enough.”
Nationally touring and local bands will join in the effort to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic lung
disease. Groups from Tennessee, Ohio, and all around Michigan will presentmusic from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
on Thursday, and 12 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Blue Circle recording artists Jerry Butler & the Blu-J’s, from Tennessee,will appear Saturday. Ms. Dixie Hall,
of Blue Circle Records says, “Without a doubt, Jerry is among the most unacknowledged singers in the
business. He has lent his flawless and peerless vocals to Pine Mountain Railroad and held the featured lead
singer position in Carolina Road.”
Michigan’s own Detour Bluegrass whose recent album, “The Road That Lies Ahead”, came in at number 35 on
the Cashbox Bluegrass Top 50 for the week of June 28, 2010, will be back for the fourth time; they have
appeared at all Pickin’ on CF benefits. A cut from that CD, “My Life Just Ain’t a Bluegrass Song,” is number
22 on the WAMU Bluegrass Unlimited chart for July, 2010.
Also schedule to appear are Glenn Spayth, Tennessee; Lonesome Meadow, New Outlook, and Berachah Valley,
Ohio; and Michigan bands: Hardline Drive, New County Grass, Out of the Blue, Lonesome County, Bill
Bynum & Company, Stoney Creek Gospel and The Windy Mountain Boys.
KC Campground will host Pickin’ of CF for the first time. Camping, concessions, a covered pavilion, the kid’s
playground and other amenities make this an ideal location. Bring the family, lawn chairs or a blanket, and
enjoy the music, or plan to camp and enjoy the entire weekend to benefit a worthy cause. Camping is just
$15.00 per night during the festival.
